Jim Tierney, Founder
Jim Tierney has over 25 years of private and public
sector experience in program management, product
development, business development and defense acquisition. His blend
of technical, business and government experience helps create and
successfully execute business strategies, understand and
translate government requirements into technical performance,
facilitate communications with government program managers and
leaders, develop and execute product-development strategies,
accelerate technical innovation, create business-development
opportunities and develop commercialization
and proposal strategies.
Before founding J. Tierney Associates LLC, Jim led a successful
career in both private and public organizations. Prior to founding
J. Tierney Associates he
was Director, Business Development for the Defense and Homeland
Security business of TIAX LLC, a small start-up technology and
product development business serving commercial and government
clients. Prior to TIAX LLC, Jim was Director, DoD Business
Development & Government/Congressional Affairs at Arthur D. Little, Inc. (ADL) a
3,000-person $500M/year professional services company.
His public sector experience includes a variety of leadership and technical positions with the US Army including positions on the
Army Staff in the Pentagon. During his last assignment for the
US Army Soldier Systems Command, he established and led
PM Force Sustainment Systems, where he provided executive-level
leadership for over 50 Army programs, managing research and
development, production, and fielding activities with an annual
budget of over $100M.
Jim also led the Army?s Force
Provider program ? a deployable base camp that houses and provides
rest and refit services for up to 600 soldiers. This program
finished 14 months ahead of schedule and $1.5M under budget
resulting in the program team receiving a prestigious Superior
Program Management Award from the
Secretary of Defense. Today nearly 50 Force Provider systems are in
use worldwide.
Jim is a graduate of the US Army Management Staff College and the
Defense Systems Management College (Advanced Program Management
Course), Ft. Belvoir, VA. He received a Master of Business
Administration from Babson College, Wellesley MA, and a Bachelor of
Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University. Jim is a Level
III Certified Acquisition Professional in both Program Management and
Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering; and holds a
Secret Clearance with the Department of Defense.
Jim is a former Chair of the Board of Trustees for the
McAuliffe Regional Charter Public School in Framingham, MA, and former President of the McAuliffe Charter School Foundation. |
